The Del Oro Sun suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by South 98-32. While losing is never fun, Del Oro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1331st, while South is ranked 531st).
Despite the loss, Del Oro saw an underclassman step up: Josue Lopez-Perez scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Jaime, who scored six points.
This is the second loss in a row for Del Oro and nudges their season record down to 5-18. As for South, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Del Oro will head out on the road to square off against Golden Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North at 6:30 p.m. North will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.
