The Ocean Township Spartans fell victim to the Manasquan Warriors''s stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Warriors 29-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ocean Township in their matchups with Manasquan: they've now lost five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Manasquan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Will Burns, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 57 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Frank Furfaro, who rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Ocean Township has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Manasquan, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ocean Township will take on Manchester Township at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Manchester Township is ranked 197th, while Ocean Township is ranked 179th). As for Manasquan, they will be playing at home against Somerville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Somerville is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
