Annie Levine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Erica Massie, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Aviana Sekerak was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Mt. Hebron won against Howard on Thursday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Vikings walked away with a 9-4 victory over Glenelg.
Abby Magdar made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits. Magdar was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Gianna Giacoletto was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jules Perez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Mt. Hebron hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.
Mt. Hebron's win bumped their record up to 15-0. As for River Hill, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. River Hill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mt. Hebron struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went River Hill's way against Mt. Hebron in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as River Hill made off with a 10-2 win. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
