2A Agua Fria Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Jamerrius Anthony Goes Supernova in Cortez Defeat
Starting off the list is Cortez's Jamerrius Anthony, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Anthony rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
This season, Anthony has thrown 1 touchdown (and no picks) while averaging 19.6 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 18.88 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 71.38 rushing yards.

Michael Anthony Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Keeping Anthony company is Michael Anthony, a fellow Cortez player. He rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. He's now once again averaging 100+ rushing yards (100.2) per game. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making nine total tackles (1.0 for loss).
If the past is any indication, Anthony could be in store for another big game when he takes on Kingman Academy on Friday. Anthony rushed for 174 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry the last time he and the Tigers duked it out back in October of 2023.

Aeden Calini Delivers Electric Effort Vs Kingman Academy
Highland Prep was sadly handed a loss on Friday, but Aeden Calini did his best to prevent it. Despite the defeat, Calini was still balling out as he picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Highland Prep's success: when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
Calini must have Kingman Academy's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Calini saw the Tigers), he picked up 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Rondan Posts Huge Game in 35-19 Win
Phoenix Christian picked up their fifth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Z'Yeon Rondan. Rondan was unstoppable, rushing for 142 yards and three touchdowns.
Rondan is probably looking forward to his next game, a road matchup against Mountainside on Friday. Rondan rushed for 49 yards and three touchdowns the last time he and the Wolves duked it out back in October of 2023.

Liam Coye Turns in Season-Best Effort
Sadly, Liam Coye posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Highland Prep over Kingman Academy on Friday. Coye wasn't messing around, making 19 total tackles (2.0 for loss). The contest was his fifth straight with eight or more total tackles dating back to last season.
For the season, Coye has averaged 10.5 total tackles per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 4.38 total tackles per game.
