After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Central, the McGregor Mercuries were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cook County by a score of 80-72. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Cook County still got an impressive performance from Denali Blackwell, who scored 27 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Blackwell also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Recko Helmerson- Skildum, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
McGregor's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Cook County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
McGregor didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-30 victory vs. Floodwood on the 9th. Cook County will head out on the road to face off against Hill City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cook County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 263 points over their last four games.
