The Juniata Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 37-29 to East Juniata. Juniata lost against East Juniata in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 47-42 score last time.
East Juniata found their leader in underclassman Wrett Smith, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Clark Ritzman, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Juniata has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for East Juniata, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
Juniata will head out on the road to face off against Upper Dauphin Area at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Upper Dauphin Area is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Juniata a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. East Juniata will take on Line Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Line Mountain and East Juniata are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
