The Community School of Davidson Spartans will look to defend their home field on Friday against the East Surry Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Community School of Davidson walked away with it. They blew past Lexington 38-16. Winning may never get old, but Community School of Davidson sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Brandon Albert was his usual excellent self, rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown, while also picking up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Ferguson, who threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, East Surry was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Providence Grove 42-13 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7.
East Surry relied on the efforts of Will Jones, who threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and Lindan Fleming, who rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Fleming was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Ashton Stevens was another key contributor, rushing for 71 yards and a touchdown.
Community School of Davidson has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. As for East Surry, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
