Softball Recap: Independence's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Independence had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Centennial Titans on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in February.

The team relied heavily on Stormy DANIEL, who fired off two home runs, three stolen bases, and five RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Katy TOWNE also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

DANIEL wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Independence lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Independence's record is now 5-9. As for Centennial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Independence is set to challenge their familiar foe Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Independence has lost three straight at home , while Heritage has lost eight on the road. Meanwhile, Centennial will face off against rival Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
