Park Tudor and Speedway are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Panthers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Sparkplugs at 5:30 p.m. Park Tudor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Park Tudor came up short against Greencastle on Monday, falling 15-2. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Park Tudor saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Santana Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, while Speedway put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Beech Grove. The Sparkplugs were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Hornets. The victory continues a trend for the Sparkplugs in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won five in a row.
Bradley Howard made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Speedway is 2-1 when Howard allows two or fewer hits, but 4-12-1 otherwise. Howard was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Speedway let Keller Socks and Logan Moore run wild. Socks went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Moore went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Socks a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Broida, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.
Speedway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beech Grove only posted an OBP of .062.
Park Tudor's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Speedway, their win bumped their record up to 6-13-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Park Tudor has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Speedway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Park Tudor came out on top in a nail-biter against Speedway in their previous matchup on Friday, sneaking past 9-7. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Sparkplugs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
