Softball Recap: Butte Find Success

Butte hadn't done well against Sentinel recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 7-4. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Ashlinn Mullaney made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Ferriter, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Madisyn Swanson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Butte and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Sentinel, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Butte has already played their next matchup, a 7-6 loss against Helena on the 10th. As for Sentinel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-1 win against Flathead on the 8th.
