Turner is 0-4 against Wakeland since March of 2023 but things could change on Wednesday. Turner will be playing at home against Wakeland at 6:45 p.m.
Turner is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Reedy, falling 16-0.
Turner saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grecia De La Garza, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double marked the first that De La Garza hit this season.
Meanwhile, Wakeland came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Rangers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolverines have posted since February 27, 2024.
Wakeland got a massive performance out of Claire Schreiner, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits Schreiner has posted since back in April of 2024. Lauren McIllwain was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple.
Wakeland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in seven consecutive matchups.
Wakeland's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Turner, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Turner hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Wakeland struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Turner might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Wakeland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Turner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
