Spring rang in the new year with a 59-48 win over Westfield. Given Spring's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Westfield is ranked 692nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Spring's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylah Lumar, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Mariah Goodjoint, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Spring has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Westfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.
Spring will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Nimitz at 7:00 p.m. Nimitz will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Westfield, they will head out on the road to face off against MacArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
