Salisbury Christian have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 49-39 victory over Calvary Christian Academy on Monday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Salisbury Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 301st in Maryland, while Calvary Christian Academy is ranked 60th in Delaware).
When it comes to explaining why Calvary Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is JR Gillespie (HS). Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Javin Jenkins was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Salisbury Christian's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-18. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salisbury Christian will take on Delmarva Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Concord Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Concord Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
