The Oak Ridge Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Folsom Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Ridge is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
If Oak Ridge beats Folsom with six runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Trojans blew past St. Francis 6-0 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
St. Francis' batters probably weren't too happy with Ellison Schroeder, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (she gave up a single walk). Schroeder has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Paratore, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. Carly Short was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Oak Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Francis struck out six times.
Meanwhile, Folsom scored first but ultimately less than Del Oro in their matchup on Friday. They lost 15-5 to the Golden Eagles. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brooke Digiorno made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. Jordyn Moore also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Oak Ridge pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Folsom, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10-2.
Folsom's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oak Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Folsom, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Oak Ridge's hitters?
Everything went Oak Ridge's way against Folsom in their previous matchup back in April, as Oak Ridge made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
