Section 11 Division IV recap Sept. 26, 2012
Babylon moved up to 207 from 279 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 11 Division IV. The Panthers were able to make the jump by beating Mattituck-Southold-Greenport 38-0.
John Glenn was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 12th to ninth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Knights defeated Center Moriches 29-7.
Shoreham-Wading River's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Avery Friedman threw for 36 and one touchdown and Mitch Identsohn had 24 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Anderson chipped in 127 yards. Isreal Squires helped Shoreham-Wading River's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.
Shoreham-Wading River's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Danny Hughes has thrown for 120 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Squires has eight catches for 172 yards. Anderson leads the league in rushing with 195 yards.
A big matchup in Section 11 Division IV this week will be when Mount Sinai takes on Babylon. Mount Sinai is currently in first, while the Panthers are in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Vinnie Ammirato's team takes on Babylon. Mount Sinai has allowed six points this season, while the Panthers have given up 21.
Hampton Bays led the league in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on Bayport-Blue Point.
