On Monday, the Amplus Academy Archers's game was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They escaped with a win against Somerset Sky Pointe by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Amplus Academy.
Amplus Academy was led to victory by Cody Clark and Falna Ahferom. Clark scored 15 points, while Ahferom scored 20 points. Ahferom is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Jhayden Batangan, who scored six points.
Despite the loss, Somerset Sky Pointe still got an impressive performance from Dylan Oblad, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Oblad posted eight or more assists. Ja'Cory Gory was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Amplus Academy's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Somerset Sky Pointe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amplus Academy will take on the Mountain Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Sierra Vista's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 matchups. As for Somerset Sky Pointe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset Academy Losee is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
