The Tokay Tigers will head out to take on the McNair Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. McNair took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Tokay, who comes in off a win.
Tokay proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Bear Creek 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Bruins since March 9, 2016.
The result came thanks to Brooklyn Jeremic-Schaede 2027's shutout, as she gave up just seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Misasi 2025, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one triple.
Meanwhile, McNair didn't have quite enough to beat Weston Ranch on Thursday and fell 9-8.
Celina Valadez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Messiyah Evans, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Tokay is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for McNair, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tokay has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like McNair struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Tokay's way against McNair in their previous matchup back in March, as Tokay made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
