The Virginia City Muckers will challenge the North Tahoe Lakers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Virginia City has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Virginia City is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They lost 23-8 to Smith Valley. That's two games in a row now that the Muckers have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Derek McCoy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Virginia City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Shiloh Coelho, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, North Tahoe hadn't done well against West Wendover recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Lakers came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 9-6.
Noah Glickman was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Glickman wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peter Rusek, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave Rusek a new career-high. Curtis Edmunds was another, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
North Tahoe is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Virginia City, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Virginia City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Tahoe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Virginia City might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from North Tahoe when the teams last played back in February. Will the Muckers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
