Softball Recap: Conant Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Conant, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Hoffman Estates Hawks on Monday as they made off with a 15-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jenny Ryan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Cailyn Kehoe was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Ava Falcone was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Conant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoffman Estates only posted an OBP of .385.

Conant now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Hoffman Estates, their loss was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conant will welcome Palatine at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.06 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hoffman Estates, they will host Schaumburg at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks are facing the Saxons at the right time seeing as the Saxons are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
