Kenesaw is 9-1 against the Mustangs since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Kenesaw Blue Devils will be staying on the road to face off against the Silver Lake Mustangs at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Kenesaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Kenesaw was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-45 to the Dragons.
Despite their loss, Kenesaw saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jack Ryan, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. It was the first time this season that Ryan scored 15 or more points. Jravin Suck was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Silver Lake unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Red Cloud. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Silver Lake has scored all season.
Jordan Faimon put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trey Vance, who scored four points along with two steals.
Kenesaw's record is now 6-10. Silver Lake's record now sits at 13-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kenesaw have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Silver Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Kenesaw was taken down by the Mustangs 63-34 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Kenesaw was down 30-10.
