The Red Bank Lions will face off against the Whitwell Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Red Bank is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Red Bank is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against East Ridge on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Jack Barkeloo and Tayveonn Bonds were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Barkeloo struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bonds tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Barkeloo a new career-high. At the plate, Barkeloo scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Bonds scored a run while going 1-for-3. Barkeloo has become a key player for Red Bank: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Red Bank got a massive performance out of Sean Brune, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Brune a new career-high. Calvin Bean was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Red Bank hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Ridge struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, Whitwell had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Eagles. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 29, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Jacob McCurry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 18 Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
Whitwell's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Red Bank, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
Red Bank skirted past Whitwell 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
