Northeast is 0-10 against Osceola since March of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. Northeast will head out to square off against Osceola at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Northeast and Lakewood, and Northeast kept the tradition alive. Northeast's pitchers stepped up to hand Lakewood a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won eight in a row.
Danielle Brunner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Northeast got a massive performance out of Baylie Dorr, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Dorr has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ana Davis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Northeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Osceola, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Seminole with a sharp 11-1 win on Friday.
Aliyah Lai spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cassidy Allen was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Jenna Neupaver was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.
Osceola pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Northeast, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both Northeast and Osceola just can't seem to miss. Northeast has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Osceola struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northeast couldn't quite get it done against Osceola in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 14-10. Can Northeast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
