Deer Valley is 0-9 against Antioch since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Deer Valley Wolverines are on the road again and play against the Antioch Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Hopefully Deer Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-6, which was the final score in Deer Valley's tilt against Liberty. While losing is never fun, Deer Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 663rd, while Liberty is ranked 138th).
Meanwhile, Antioch never let their opponents score on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 44-0 victory over Freedom. The result was nothing new for Antioch, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Larenzo Mayfield, who rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Mayfield hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Curtis Tucker and his 133 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Antioch's victory.
Deer Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Antioch, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Deer Valley was taken down by Antioch 61-16 in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. Thankfully for Deer Valley, Charles Brown jr (who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
