If the Locust Fork Hornets were feeling good off their 59-35 takedown of the Southeastern Mustangs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Locust Fork fell 58-49 to Cold Springs on Monday. Locust Fork found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 12 fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Locust Fork still got an impressive performance from Faith Evans, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 51% of Locust Fork's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Hope Evans, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Cold Springs got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maci Brown out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists. Ella Bruer was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds.
Locust Fork's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5. As for Cold Springs, they pushed their record up to 24-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Locust Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cold Springs also has no future games currently scheduled.
