Elise Bender continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double with 23 points and nine steals. Her evening made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Bender, who posted 11 points.
Anthony Wayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Southview ended up a good deal behind Ross last Thursday and lost 50-32. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Little Giants: they've now lost five in a row.
Anthony Wayne will have to keep a close watch on Alaina Hedden and Jordan Evans, a pair of players who had a big impact on Southview's prior game. Hedden earned five points, while Evans had five points. The dominant performance also gave Hedden a new career-high in steals (two).
Anthony Wayne's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.3 points over those games. As for Southview, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Anthony Wayne hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 71.4 points per game. It's a different story for Southview, though, as they've been averaging only 32.3 points. The only thing between Anthony Wayne and another offensive beatdown is Southview. Will they be able to keep them contained?
