First Colonial has gone 8-0-2 against Bayside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Patriots will host the Marlins at 5:00 p.m. First Colonial will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
First Colonial had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Salem on Tuesday. The Patriots were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Sundevils. Considering the Patriots have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Bayside can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They put the hurt on Green Run with a sharp 13-1 victory.
Barry Farias Jr made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bayside is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-10 otherwise. Farias Jr was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Butler, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Heinrich, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Bayside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
First Colonial's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Bayside, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
Everything went First Colonial's way against Bayside in their previous matchup back in April, as First Colonial made off with a 12-0 victory. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Marlins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
