Jackson North Side took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Fayette Ware as Jackson North Side made off with a 10-1 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Journey Wilbourn made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wilbourn was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Jackson North Side let Corihanna Jurnett and Deja Hill run wild. Jurnett scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Hill scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-1. Kaleigha Hartfield was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Jackson North Side always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .900. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fayette Ware only posted an OBP of .308.
Meanwhile, Milan put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Haywood with a sharp 14-1 victory. Fans of the Bulldogs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Camryn Green made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Green was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Hailey Williamson was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bailey Doles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Milan's record now sits at 3-0. As for Jackson North Side, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
