CHULA VISTA, Calif. - After four lead changes,
Olympian (Chula Vista, Calif.) took the lead for good when
Christopher Humphery ran for a touchdown with 2:00 left in the third quarter and held on to beat
Eastlake (Chula Vista, Calif.) 35-24 on Saturday.
After trailing 21-17 at the half, the Titans went ahead on a
Tyrone Stevens touchdown pass to
Tavarus Green with 6:00 left in the third.
Olympian expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. OHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Humphery touchdown run.
With the win the Eagles extended their winning streak to nine games. Olympian defeated the Spartans 45-31 last week.
Stevens played well for Eastlake. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to four on the year.
OHS's standout player in the win was Humphery. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 16-7 win for the Eagles.
The loss comes after Eastlake defeated Bonita Vista 46-6 last week. The loss snapped EHS's 3-game winning streak.
In a Metro - Mesa game next week Olympian (9-0) takes on Bonita Vista, and Eastlake (6-3) will go up against Otay Ranch also in a Metro - Mesa game.
