The Pike Valley Panthers waltzed into their match on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They blew past Natoma 75-15 at home. Pike Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Andrew Cooper, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Massell, who scored ten points along with five assists and three blocks.
Despite the loss, Natoma still got an impressive performance from Jackson Young, who scored ten points. That was a full 66.7% of Natoma's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Natoma struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pike Valley pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Pike Valley pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Natoma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.
Pike Valley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lincoln. Pike Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Lincoln likes a good challenge. As for Natoma, they will be playing at home against Rock Hills on Tuesday. Hopefully Natoma focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Tuesday.
