Fairfax is 0-3 against Willow Canyon since February of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Fairfax Stampede will welcome the Willow Canyon Wildcats at 3:45 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Willow Canyon will be up against a hot Fairfax team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Fairfax came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against La Joya Community. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Stampede have posted since April 17, 2024.

| 02/27/25 vs Copper Canyon | 1 |
| 02/26/25 @ Sierra Linda | 2 |
The team relied heavily on Alexa Quiroz, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Quiroz is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Jaslene Soberano was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Quiroz wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Fairfax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Willow Canyon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Chaparral, sneaking past 15-14. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Mataya Olson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Jada Williams, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Willow Canyon pushed their record up to 2-3-1 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Fairfax, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Willow Canyon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairfax has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Willow Canyon, though, as they've been averaging 10.7 hits. Given Fairfax's sizable advantage in that area, Willow Canyon will need to find a way to close that gap.
Fairfax might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Willow Canyon in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Fairfax have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
