The Leonardtown Raiders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Patuxent 74-50. Leonardtown has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 24 points or more this season.
Leonardtown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Darius Searles led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elijah Miller, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
The win was the third in a row for Leonardtown, bringing their record for this year to 9-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Patuxent, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leonardtown will square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Model Secondary School for the Deaf focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Patuxent, they will head out on the road to square off against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Great Mills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Panthers in Maryland (the Hornets are ranked 50th, while the Panthers are ranked 239th).
