The Boswell Pioneers fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Crowley by a score of 36-28 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Boswell, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Boswell was led to victory by Kairel Robertson and Tye Renfro. Robertson picked up 146 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Renfro threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. Renfro was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Jack Garcia did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and three extra points.
When it comes to explaining why Crowley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caleb Williams. Despite the final result, he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Williams is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Tasby jr, who picked up 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Boswell's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Crowley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boswell will take on Chisholm Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chisholm Trail has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25. As for Crowley, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against North Crowley at 7:00 p.m. North Crowley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Crowley likes a good challenge.
