The Stratford Red Devils will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Pomperaug Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Stratford is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Two weeks ago, Stratford suffered a tough 36-16 defeat at the hands of New Milford. While losing is never fun, Stratford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while New Milford is ranked 36th).
Kyle Ray put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Pomperaug was the victim of a tough 43-22 loss at the hands of Masuk on Friday.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Johnny Gogas, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Pomperaug's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Masuk's QB was sacked four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Chris Elovecky and his two sacks.
The losses dropped Stratford to 0-6 and Pomperaug to 4-2.
Stratford might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Pomperaug in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Stratford have more luck at home instead of on the road?
