Basketball Recap: Evergreen Piles Up the Points Against Summit

It was a proper cat-fight when Evergreen duked it out withSummit on Tuesday. The Evergreen Cougars breezed by the Summit Tigers to the tune of 72-45. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 21 points or more this season.

Evergreen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Drew Yager out in front who went 7 for 14 on his way to 17 points. Eli Beeson was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Evergreen was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summit only posted 11 assists.

Defeat or not, Summit got some senior leadership from Lucas Comcowich and Eduardo Gutierrez. Comcowich posted 13 points, while Gutierrez had 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cesar Lozano, who put up eight points.

The win was the third in a row for Evergreen, bringing their record for this year to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Summit, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-8.

Evergreen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-50 victory against Highlands Ranch on the 9th. As for Summit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 86-44 defeat against Holy Family on the 10th.
