The Babcock Trailblazers will take on the Pineapple Cove Classical Academy Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Babcock has five straight wins, Pineapple Cove Classical Academy has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Babcock beat The Classical Academy of Sarasota 55-45.
Babcock got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jameson Habing out in front who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks. Another player making a difference was Finn Habing, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Pineapple Cove Classical Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 51-50 to St. Edward's.
Despite the loss, Pineapple Cove Classical Academy saw an underclassman step up: Michael Barna dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Barna has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Matthew Barna was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Babcock's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Pineapple Cove Classical Academy, they bumped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Babcock have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Pineapple Cove Classical Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 21.3 rebounds per game.
