You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes's strategy against the Coastal Christian Centurions on Tuesday. Cape Fear Academy enjoyed a cozy 44-27 win over Coastal Christian. Given Cape Fear Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Coastal Christian is ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Angelo Vega continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds. Isaiah Gibson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Several Centurions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Adgent, who scored seven points.
The victory was the third in a row for Cape Fear Academy, bringing their record for this year to 12-5. As for Coastal Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cape Fear Academy will take on Greenfield at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Coastal Christian, they will be playing at home against Southeastern Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Southeastern Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Friday.
