Aliyanis Stubbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kamryn Pickering made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Alonso came out on top against Spoto on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Ravens blew past the Spartans 11-1. Considering the Ravens' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Isabella Lugo tossed a big game, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Kristina Vega was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Keely Ruiz also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Alonso kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Alonso's record now sits at 6-7. As for Sumner, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-7.
Sumner was able to grind out a solid win over Alonso in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stingrays since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
