The Goodrich Martians will head out on the road to face off against the New Lothrop Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Goodrich put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They blew past Corunna 14-0. Winning may never get old, but the Martians sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Thomas Niles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cross Darby was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Brady Bazsler was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Goodrich always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .536 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
17 must be New Lothrop's lucky number: they beat Montrose with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Hornets didn't even let the Rams on the board, marking the Hornets' second-straight 17-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.
Hayden Wendling and Zane Rumisek did most of the damage at the plate: Wendling scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Rumisek scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Nathan Kuchar also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Goodrich's record is now 4-1. As for New Lothrop, their record now sits at 3-4.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Goodrich has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .517. However, it's not like New Lothrop struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Goodrich took their victory against New Lothrop in their previous matchup on Saturday by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Martians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
