The Seguin Matadors posted their closest win since December 30, 2023 on Friday. They had just enough and edged Canyon out 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
John Jackson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Seguin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Juarz-bruns, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Seguin's victory bumped their record up to 14-15. As for Canyon, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-24.
Seguin will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Boerne-Champion will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Canyon, they will head out on the road to take on the Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wagner presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cougars in Texas (the Thunderbirds are ranked 62nd, while the Cougars are ranked 574th).
