Baseball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence lost against Butler back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Patriots fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3. The Patriots' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Independence saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brian Crowder, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Crowder has become a key player for the Patriots: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-12 otherwise. Another was Frankie Jones, Jr, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Butler, their record now sits at an identical 8-14.

While Independence had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
