The South Mecklenburg Sabres just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Mill Creek Hawks at 2:30 p.m. on December 22nd. South Mecklenburg is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Even though Clover scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, South Mecklenburg still came out on top. South Mecklenburg strolled past Clover with points to spare, taking the game 71-56. Given South Mecklenburg's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 31st in North Carolina, while Clover is ranked 139th in South Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Peter Moye continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Skelton, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mill Creek waltzed into their match Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against White Oak and snuck past 52-50.
South Mecklenburg's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Mill Creek, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
