Volleyball Recap: Crestview Takes a Loss

If Crestview was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Fort Walton Beach on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Niceville Eagles on Thursday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Crestview started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-20.

Defeat or not, Crestview got some senior leadership from Kelsey Griffin and Kyla Fry. Griffin had 45 digs and two aces, while Fry had 12 digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Fry.

Niceville was led to victory by Janey Elder and Lili Micu-Stan. Elder had 14 digs and one assist, while Micu-Stan had ten digs. Those 14 digs gave Elder a new career-high. Katherine Newkirk also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Crestview's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Niceville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Crestview is taking a road trip to challenge Gulf Breeze at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Niceville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Pensacola Catholic at 6:30 p.m.
