Baseball Recap: Croatan Wins Going Away Against Richlands

Croatan owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Richlands Wildcats as they made off with a 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Owen Woodruff, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Richlands off the board. Woodruff has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Harrison Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Griffin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Thomas wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Croatan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Croatan's record is now 6-3. As for Richlands, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Croatan Cougars duke it out with Jacksonville Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Richlands, they will square off against West Carteret at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
