Mission Valley recap November 13, 2013
American scaled the state rankings by moving to 448 from 479 this week, the biggest jump in Mission Valley. The Eagles were able to move up by besting Moreau Catholic 47-21.
Mission San Jose fell to Logan 71-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ronak Modi was a bright spot for the Warriors, as he caught 9 passes for 48 yards in the defeat.
Irvington's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jack Shank threw for 65 and 2 touchdowns and Daniel Gusev had 50 yards receiving. On the ground Jared Lozoya contributed 212 yards. Lozoya helped Irvington's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 15 yards.
Lozoya was a passing and rushing force as the Vikings lost to Washington. Lozoya's favorite target this week was Gusev, who caught 3 passes for 50 yards.
Lozoya was a beast in the backfield as Irvington fell to the Huskies.
Lozoya was the best running back in the league this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 212 yards as Zachary Silvernale's team lost to Washington. Teammate Andre Vickers added to the ground attack by rushing for 43 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Gusev. The Irvington star has 28 catches for 484 yards.
American's Drew Lyell is a mere 77 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Lyell has rushed for 923 yards on 166 carries so far this year.
Bret Casey's team led the league in scoring this week by notching 47 points on the Mariners. Lyell ran for 168 yards in the win.
