West Port has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the DeLand Bulldogs at TBD on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, West Port ended up a good deal behind the Knights and lost 73-56. While losing is never fun, West Port can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Knights are ranked 166th).
Meanwhile, DeLand strolled past the Panthers with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 61-43. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory DeLand has managed all season.
DeLand's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bart Campbell, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Campbell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Beegie Gordon, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
West Port has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for DeLand, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
West Port skirted past the Bulldogs 63-61 in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Does West Port have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
