Basketball Recap: Concord Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Concord Christian Academy was the 37-34 winner over Calvary Christian Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Concord Christian Academy Minutemen took a 58-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calvary Christian Academy LIONS on Thursday. The Minutemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Concord Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabriel Franco posted 13 points and three blocks. Franco is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Geordan Childs, who earned four points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Calvary Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sean Sensenig (HS) led the charge by going 7 of 11 on his way to 14 points along with five assists and five steals. Those five steals gave Sensenig (HS) a new career-high. Xavier Young was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Concord Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.

Concord Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fairwinds Christian at 6:15 p.m. on January 28th. Calvary Christian Academy has already played their next match (against Faith Baptist School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
