With a playoff win on the line, New Albany rose to the challenge on Monday. They blew past the Tishomingo County Braves 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 16 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jacob Simmons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Parker Hicks and Jeb Bolen did most of the damage at the plate: Hicks got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Bolen went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Bolen has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Yarbrough, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.
The win was the third in a row for New Albany, bringing their record up to 24-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Tishomingo County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 22-15.
As of now, neither New Albany nor the Braves have any future games scheduled.
