The Whiting Oilers's five-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They walked away with a 52-40 win over Griffith. The win was just what Whiting needed coming off of a 75-29 defeat in their prior contest.
Torie Davis was the offensive standout of the contest as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Quinones, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five steals.
Whiting's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11-1. As for Griffith, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Whiting will be playing at home against Wheeler at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Wheeler is ranked 302nd, while Whiting is ranked 324th). As for Griffith, they will head out on the road to face off against Hanover Central at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Hanover Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Friday.
