Bay Valley recap September 24, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Nsimba Webster and Kyle McDonald connected against Santa Rosa. The longest such play in Bay Valley this season, the connection resulted in 72 yards.
Liberty scaled the state rankings by moving to 211 from 303 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lions climbed the ranks as a result of beating Castro Valley 28-21.
Webster put up the best numbers in passing as Deer Valley defeated the Panthers. He finished with a total of 7 completions for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Chris Poe was the best receiver in the league this week as Antioch lost to Dougherty Valley. Poe racked up 6 receptions for 83 yards. Isaiah Robinson helped Antioch's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 66 yards.
Joe Mixon was a beast in the backfield as Freedom beat San Leandro.
Mixon was the most successful running back in Bay Valley this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 210 yards as the Falcons lost to the Wildcats. Teammate Isiah Johnson added to the ground attack by rushing for 108 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Isaac Lewis of Antioch is the league leader in passing yards this season with 664. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Conor Green. The Liberty star has 7 catches for 197 yards.
Harris Ross of the Pittsburg is just 31 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 88 carries Ross has accumulated 969 yard this year.
Freedom was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. The Falcons beat the Pirates 27-21 earlier in the week.
