Lucas Williamson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Williamson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Hunter Harr made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Spring Mills hadn't done well against Musselman recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cardinals blew past the Applemen 8-2. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
JP Sweeney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits.
At the plate, Spring Mills let Bryce Anders and Kayden Renner run wild. Anders went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Renner earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Clark, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Spring Mills is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Keyser, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Keyser suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Spring Mills in their previous meeting on April 14th. Will the Golden Tornado have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
